Mr. Nichols serves as Chief Development Officer at OTH Hotels Resorts, joining the team in 2021. With over 35 years of experience in operations, management, ownership and brokerage, Mr. Nichols has a broad scope of hospitality experience.
Prior to joining OTH, Mr. Nichols served as Vice President and National Director of the National Hospitality Group for one of the largest hospitality brokerage firms in the US, leading a team of over 100 Investment Specialists located in 40 offices across the country. Under Mr. Nichols leadership The National Hospitality Group closed nearly 900 hospitality transactions which represented over $4.7b in sales.
As Senior Vice President of Acquisition and Development for a Midwest based hospitality company, He was responsible for the acquisition of 20 hotels across North America. Many of these acquisitions were nationally branded properties and as such, Mr. Nichols developed extensive relationships with many brands including Marriott, Hilton, IHG, and Hyatt Hotels.
He successfully listed, marketed, financed and sold over 250 hotels valued at $5.7b during his tenure as a hospitality broker. Working with 4-5-star assets specifically provided Mr. Nichols with a deep understanding of financial structures, marketing, project management and renovations. Successfully pairing his hotel operations experience with his sales acumen, he has made lasting relationships with hotel owners, financial institutions and hotel brands.
Mr. Nichols has been a featured speaker at The Lodging Conference, AAHOA, The Hunter Hotel Conference, Hotel Business Magazine and Michigan State University’s School of Hospitality. Additionally, he has authored articles and been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Lodging Magazine and Hotel Management.
Mr. Nichols was a three-time All-America swimmer at Southern Connecticut State University before transferring to Johnson & Wales University where he majored in hospitality and lodging management. He also holds a certificate from MIT in Commercial Real Estate Analysis and Investment He is an active supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and a member of the Economic Development Commission in Cheshire, CT.
